Close out the season with a bang! Always the Sunday after Thanksgiving, Southeast MA NEMBA invites you to join us for the annual Turkey Afterburner!




Come for the rides, stay for the vibes! We will have self-guided and expert-led rides, music, food, beer garden, fire pit, vendor/sponsor fair, bike demos, skill clinics, raffle, silent auction, giveaways and more!  Proceeds benefit Hale Education youth mountain biking and outdoor education programs and Southeast MA NEMBA trail work efforts.

SE Mass NEMBA Turkey Afterburner 2024 Event Schedule:

  • 8:00 am:  General parking opens 
  • 8:15 am – 1:00 pm: Registration table, raffle prize pickup, T-shirt sales and group ride signups open 
  • 8:15 am – 3:00 pm: vendor and organization partners fair open 
  • 8:45 am – 9:00 am: Warmup Essentrics (stretching and mobility) with Blanche 
  • 8:45 – 3:00 pm: Arrowed routes open for riding 
  • 9:00 am – 11:30 am:  Adult (15+) mountain bike clinics – Essentials, Intro to Jump or Progression – requires additional registration at https://hale.education/event/mtb-clinics-semass-nemba-turkey-afterburner/. Space is limited! 
  • 9:00 am – 1:00 pm: group rides staging and departure, at specific times in separate detailed schedule that will be sent to registrants 
  • 9:30 am – 12:00 noon: Powisset Beach hot cider rest stop open 
  • 11:00 am – close:  Gonzalez food truck open 
  • 11:00 am – close:  Shovel Town Brewery beer sales open 
  • 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm:  Live music - Just Another Guru plays in the beer garden 
  • 3:00 pm (or after band is done): silent auction close 
  • 3:00 pm (or after band is done): re-raffle of prizes not picked up, announce silent auction results
  • 4:00 pm:  Event closes, volunteers stay for cleanup


What to Expect:

Experience the amazing trail network at Hale Education, boasting everything from chill fire roads to flowy singletrack to purpose-built technical trails and everything in between, a true gem less than 5 miles outside the city limits of Boston! Support Hale’s mission to foster outdoor education and mountain biking opportunities for youth throughout the Greater Boston community.  Did we mention the awesome skills park and jump bags?  Activities will include:


  • Explore arrowed self-guided routes available to ride throughout the day, including an adaptive loop, catering to all skill levels including Beginner/Family, Novice+, Intermediate and Advanced.
  • Join a group ride with an experienced leader to take on some of the area’s lesser-known trails, including the famous Hale tech!  Enjoy fun flow, rock gardens, enduro or XC, whatever your jam.
  • Take a clinic – offered for adults and kids - to level up your MTB game!
  • Get lunch from a food truck and keep warm around the fire pit
  • Groove to live music in the beer garden.
  • Visit local vendors and bike shops, on-site with product demos, swag, deals and light repair help.
  • Learn more from our other local non-profit partners and sponsors in the vendor fair area

First 250 registrations will receive this commemorative 16 oz. stainless steel reusable cup, perfect for soft drinks or beer at the event and then take it home for everyday use!"

As part of NEMBA's mission to create epic riding experiences, our Adventure Series takes you on a trip throughout the region to explore some of the best trails and communities in New England.
